Millets Own Award Winning Apple Juice
Something Millets Farm Shop are hugely proud of is their home pressed apple juices.
They grow nine traditional varieties of apple, plus two pear varieties, in their orchards on their farm at Frilford in Oxfordshire, using traditional systems. Varieties range from the wonderfully named Howgate Wonder and Lord Lambourne to the well known Bramley and Cox. When using apples to make juice it is important to allow the flavours of the apple to develop fully so that the fruit can express its varietal taste to best advantage. If the fruit stays on the tree too long those delicate flavours can become cloyed and over-ripe. They keep trying the fruit, and when they think its time to go – they simply get on with it. The fruit is selected and picked by hand from the tree. Their fruit is pressed on the same day it is picked to maximise the flavour. After settling overnight, the juice is bottled, and then pasteurised gently to preserve the freshly pressed taste with a good shelf life. They add no sugar, water, colour or preservatives, with only a little Vitamin C added to prevent oxidation (browning) the juice making it healthy as well as delicious! £2.30 each or 3 for £6.
